چکیده

In light of the increasing throughput of local area networks, Networks Of Workstations (NOW) which provide a distributed shared memory (DSM) have become a convenient alternative to parallel architectures in the framework of parallel scientific applications. ICARE is a recoverable DSM based on backward error recovery which is implemented on top of an experiments ATM platform running the CHORUS microkernel. ICARE provides a way to combine both efficiency and high availability in such a system. The fact that recovery data are stored in standard memory provides a low-cost fault-tolerance mechanism as well as the opportunity to exploit the symbiotic relationship between the data replication existing in essence in DSM systems and the one needed for fault-tolerance to increasing efficiency. Furthermore, ICARE implements an efficient transparent rollback recovery. Indeed, the disturbance of a rollback is minimized by distributing the load in a balanced way among the remaining fault-free nodes in the event of a permanent failure. Performance evaluations show the efficiency of the ICARE prototype that implements the proposed algorithms. An Extended Coherence Protocol for Recoverable DSM Systems with Causal Consistency

This paper presents a coherence protocol for recoverable Distributed Shared Memory (DSM) systems with causally consistent read-write objects. It uses independent checkpointing tightly integrated with coherence operations. That integration results in high availability of shared objects and ensures fast restoration of the consistent state of DSM in spite of multiple node failures, introducing lit...

Determining maintenance system requirements by viewpoint of availability and lean thinking: A MODM approach

Since lean concept has appeared many works have been done on decreasing or even eliminating of wastes such as extra inventory. Although these studies have not taken into account expected availability seriously. So in this paper, a Multiple Objective Decision Making (MODM) model has been developed by viewpoint of these subjects. They are decreasing wastes and increasing system availability. Wast...

Performance Scrutiny of Two Control Schemes Based on DSM and HB in Active Power Filter

This paper presents a comparative analysis between two current control strategies, constant source power and generalized Fryze current, used in Active Power Filter (APF) applications having three different modulation methods. The Hysteresis Band (HB) and first-order Delta-Sigma Modulation (DSM) as well as the second-order DSM is applied. The power section of the active power filter is viewed as...

Consideration of Water Productivity for Farm Water Management in Different Conditions of Water Availability for Dominant Summer Crops

ABSTRACT- Efficient use of irrigation water for summer crops should be considered seriously due to rare occurrence of precipitation in summer. This research was focused on the assessment of water use efficiency for dominant crops of summer cropping pattern in the study area (i.e., maize and rice) via considering water productivity (WP) with different water management scenarios at farm level at ...
